Noodle didn’t really go into the song making process for this, but she did mention that she and Danger Mouse felt it was empty without someone else to perform on it, hence the addition of De La Soul. She also said that the laugh intro to the song came from a recording of Maseo laughing.
Gorillaz recently performed the song on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. They were joined by Pusha T and a
holographic Mavis Staples, and the performance is available to watch on CBS’ website.
The song has also appeared in a variety of video games including Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party 3 on Wii
and Sing Star Pop! on PlayStation 2, as well as in the 2006 movie Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker.
