Hotel Security Camera Review – The Reolink Argus 3 Pro
Hotel security cameras are essential in a variety of ways for hotels. They give guests confidence and help prevent theft and vandalism. They also serve as valuable evidence in the event of a lawsuit.
Generally, hotel security staff have access to the footage, and the rest of the public can view it only if they have authorization.
1. Argus 3 Pro
The Argus 3 Pro has a lot going for it. It’s cheap, it does everything you need it to do, it’s completely wireless with no hub required, it’s waterproof, it can shoot color night vision and has a siren and spotlight.
It has onboard AI, which means it can detect motion faster than cameras with cloud-based AI.
It can also adjust its own motion sensitivity settings and pause recording when motion is detected.
Unfortunately, the camera doesn’t offer two-factor authentication and can be susceptible to hackers with access to your Wi-Fi password. It also records in short clips, which can generate a lot of push notifications and cause you to miss important events. However, these are minor quibbles. The Argus 3 Pro is otherwise a great choice for hotel security.
2. Reolink Go Plus
Reolink Go Plus is a unique breed of camera that foregoes Wi-Fi in favor of 4G LTE cellular data, meaning it can operate in remote locations far beyond Wifi range. It also has smart person/vehicle detection, night vision up to 33 ft and 2-way audio. Setup and software customization are handled through the Reolink app for iOS or Android.
It’s weatherproof and can be powered by a Reolink solar panel for off-grid usage. It can also be mounted on a wall or ceiling. It can pan 355deg and tilt 140deg for a wide monitoring area. Its 2K resolution offers clear images and videos. It even has a time-lapse function to record the sunsetting, flower blooming or building process in seconds or minutes. It’s IP65 rated so it can withstand rain and harsh weather.
3. Xantech IP Camera
Monitor your property from anywhere with this 4K IP security camera. Pair this with our SmartAudio, SmartNVR or SmartTVI recorders for a complete professional solution. Smart IR LED Lights and 3-D DNR and WDR ensure 0Lux night-time operation. Super-efficient H.265 video compression greatly reduces bandwidth requirements, and PoE provides both cost savings and installation flexibility. The Xantech VIP app for mobile devices makes managing your system easy.
Featuring multi-device and multi-location camera viewing on both iOS and Android apps as well as on the Mac and Windows video management software.
4. Reolink Argus 4 Pro
If you’re familiar with Reolink’s battery-powered outdoor cameras, this is the latest in a line of affordable no-frills models. It has all the basics like 1080p video streaming and recording, a 130-degree field of view, two-way audio and PIR motion detection.
It looks a bit like an Arlo Pro 4, with a curved plastic body that sits on top of a base that can be adjusted in height. A flap on the back opens to reveal the Micro USB port for charging and a slot for a removable memory card.
Setup is simple, just download the app and scan the QR code on the camera to connect it to your WiFi. Then you’re ready to watch live and record to local storage. You can also use the app to control the Argus, including setting times for when alerts, recordings and the siren are triggered.
5. Reolink Argus 3 Pro
The Reolink Argus 3 Pro is a well-rounded battery-powered camera that has solid performance and features.
It’s easy to set up and use, works reliably, and comes with local storage without a subscription (requires optional Reolink Cloud service). The siren is also a nice feature that can scare off any potential intruders.
It has a 2K camera that has good quality day and night video, including color night vision. The spotlights are another useful feature that can illuminate a dark area at night to deter unwanted visitors.
One interesting feature of this camera is that it has onboard AI which makes it perform better than a lot of competitors. It has motion detection for People and Cars, although the field of view is a little narrower than cameras like Arlo or Ring.
