A small monster antidote: if you need encouragement find it through friends, family, inspirational books, faith, or the smiles of children. And don’t feed the little monsters.
Shirt Kong
Shirt Kong, a local screen printing and embroidery shop in St. Peters, Missouri, has been well-known in the decorated apparel industry for their hard work and dedication to high quality prints. However, it was the determination and community-mindedness they exemplified during the COVID-19 pandemic that truly set them apart from their competition. As they strove to not only stay in business, but also support the many other small businesses and organizations who had lost revenue during this difficult time, the team at Shirt Kong took risks and adapted their capabilities in a way that was truly remarkable.
During the pandemic, they set up online stores that raised money for various local charities and helped local school children continue to receive meals through the Francis Howell School District’s meal assistance program. They also donated to a local art nonprofit that provides opportunities, resources and mentoring for kids in need. In addition, they launched a fundraiser that allowed customers to purchase shirts featuring designs by more than 175 local small businesses, including restaurants, bars and fitness studios, with the proceeds split between each business.
While Chunky Kong Tiny Little Monster
While Chunky Kong is definitely the strongest of the Kongs, he also has a big heart. He loves to play with his Kremling friends, and he often tries to help them solve problems without fighting. In the DK Rap, he says that “I’m the biggest Kong, but I don’t always know how to help.” Despite his strength and power, Chunky is actually the slowest of all the Kongs. He moves the least when running and has the lowest jump of all the Kongs, though he can still throw heavy boulders.
We at Monarch Color are very proud to be a part of this wonderful story of creativity and community-mindedness, and we can’t wait to see what else the team at Shirt Kong comes up with in the future. They’re setting the bar very high for the rest of us in terms of what it means to be a successful, contributing member of your community. We’re so glad we could be there to help them get started!
